When I try to satisfy others, I feel drained. But when I do things on my terms, I feel good. Really good. There’s nothing that pleases me more than hearing myself talk.
On a screen, my words can speak for themselves. In this space, my request for you is to remember a more stripped down version of the internet. Think Tumblr, think WikiHow. A time when our engagement with the screen felt more authentic, more honest.
But persuasion works when it’s invisible. Was violence really less severe when internet speeds were slower, when file sizes were smaller? Did our culture feel as harsh as it does now?
Things have always been sold to us online, then and now. So maybe the better question is this:
Do you like what you’ve come across?
